 Episcopal Academy’s Aaron Zhu is Main Line Student of the Week (Nov. 4-10) To read the article on Aaron Zhu click here A senior at Episcopal Academy, Aaron Zhu received the Jarvis Meirs Memorial Prize for Excellence in Biology and the Bowdoin College Book Award, awarded to the member of the senior class who demonstrates extraordinary service to the Common Good and an unusual passion for inquiry, discovery and innovative thinking. He is also an enthusiastic artist with talents in drawing and painting as well as a student leader with the Popular Culture Club, Domino Board (theatre group), Dance Team, and the Queer-Straight Alliance at EA. Zhu worked extensively with Episcopal Academy’s Head Chaplain and EA’s Community Service Coordinator last spring to plan and execute the school’s first Mental Health Awareness Walk.

 Haverford School’s Josh Williams is Main Line Student of the Week (Oct. 28 – Nov. 3) To read the article on Josh Williams click here A senior at The Haverford School, Josh Williams is the 2024-25 Student Body President. Along with Head of School Tyler Casertano, Williams helped pick this year’s Virtue of the Year, Humility. He is a member of the School’s Signet Society, a group of senior leaders that organizes school-wide community gatherings, spirit days, and orientation programming for freshmen students. Williams took his talents to the stage last year participating in the fall production of One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the spring production, Beauty and the Beast. This year he is a theater captain for the performing arts group. Williams also is a leader of the Peer Counseling club and Black Student Union at Haverford. He is a captain for the Fords football team (offensive lineman) and will continue his football and academic career at Stanford University next year.

Friends’ Central School’s Poyraz Ozer is Main Line Student of the Week (Oct. 21-27) To read the article on Poyraz Ozer click here  A senior at Friends’ Central School, Poyraz Ozer is an outstanding physics student who was one of just five students in the entire country to be selected to compete on the U.S. team at the International Young Physicists' Tournament in Budapest this summer under the guidance of his physics teacher Deborah Skapik. He received a Certificate of Recognition from the Pennsylvania State Senators in July for his achievements in physics. Ozer is the founder and leader of the FCS STEM Competition Club, who earned Honorable Mention in the 2023 GOES Virtual Science Fair for their project, “Buffalo Bomb Cyclone,” awarded by the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison.  The Grayson School’s Tani Nevins-Klein is Main Line Student of the Week (Oct. 14-20) To read the article on Tani Nevins-Klein click here A senior at The Grayson School, Tani Nevins-Klein is the recipient of dual Grayson Departmental Math and Computer Science awards. He designed and executed a month-long experiment measuring the efficacy of various visible-light spectroscopic techniques on the Balmer series of hydrogen; he successfully self-studied the Calculus curriculum, completing both sections in one year, tackled undergraduate level math work in linear algebra and analysis sophomore year, and he created LaTTe, a programming language based on Markdown to make taking digital math notes easier. Villa Maria Academy’s Isabella Valdeviezo is Main Line Student of the Week (Oct. 7-13) To read the article on Isabella Valdeviezo click here   A senior at Villa Maria Academy, Isabella Valdeviezo is a member of the school’s Tri-M Music Honors Society, Music Ministry, Orchestra, Select Chorus & Concert Chorus, String Ensemble, Diversity Committee (DEIB), Textiles Club, and Tech Club. She is also a participant in the Pennsylvania Math League. As a sophomore, she won the Grand Prize at Music-Fest's Rising Talents Festival for her violin piece, and it gave her the opportunity to perform in New York at the National Opera America Center.  Academy of Notre Dame’s Grace Yacobe is Main Line Student of the Week (Sept. 30-Oct. 6) To read the article on Grace Yacobe click here A senior at the Academy of Notre Dame, Grace Yacobe, a member of the National Honor Society, has won numerous science awards, including first place in Medicine and Health at the Delaware Valley Science Fair, gold medalist at the Delaware Valley Science Fair, Merck Science Achievement Award and Parenteral Drug Association Award for the Delaware Valley Chapter. She has published poems in the school’s literary magazine the Tournesol and has written articles in the school’s newspaper, The Gates, ranging from political conflicts to long-form feature pieces.
