Asa Winikur was selected by his peers last spring to be the 2023-24 Student Body President at The Haverford School, and at the school’s Opening Assembly, in collaboration with Head of School Tyler Casertano, he challenged community members to take action in service of building a community of belonging, connection, and engagement. Winikur also serves as a leader of Haverford School’s Peer Counseling, a program where students meet to practice deep listening and co-counseling. The program is designed for the boys to come to understand that they are not alone, that they are buoyed by caring friendships with their classmates, and that everyone – regardless of race, class, or achievement, carries burdens. A two-time participant in the LLS Student of the Year Foundation, Winikur has led the charge for the Fords for a Cure team in which students work to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He is also a member of both the baseball and hockey programs at Haverford.
