Episcopal Academy's Albert Chen is Main Line Student of the Week (Sept. 12-18)


 

 

A senior at Episcopal Academy, Albert Chen has served as Student Council Vice President, plays on EA’s varsity squash team, is a volunteer with Squash Smarts – an organization that promotes the squash to young players, and writes for the school newspaper, The Scholium. Outside of EA, Chen is an accomplished and a twice-published researcher. He has been a research intern with Penn’s Perleman School of Medicine, in the Department of Radiology, where he worked in the Laboratory for Structural, Physiologic, and Functioning Imaging (LSPFI). He has also conducted research and data analysis on environmental antimicrobial resistance. He was the only high school student on the research team that meets weekly on Friday evenings – Chen’s team is trying to design 3D imaging (such as for a patient’s medical history) that can be instantly projected onto a patient’s body for an operating team.

Villa Maria Academy's Anna Rago is Main Line Student of the Week - Oct. 7, 2018 To read the article on Anna Rago click here The Villa Maria Academy junior received Outstanding Achievement Awards in both science and math (algebra) and was recently nominated for the Liberty Museum and TD Bank’s Young Heroes Award. In college, she wants to study urban planning and nonprofit management with a focus on international urban planning and has taken an online class with a college in Singapore called Future Cities. Last summer, she traveled to Malawi, Africa (the third-poorest country in the world), for 18 days to work with Pamoza International, whose mission is to unite people in alleviating suffering and despair through Christian outreach and sustainable community development in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, agriculture and health. Rago has organized several fundraisers at Villa Maria for Pamoza International.

 Agnes Irwin's Caroline "Cookie" Quirk is Main Line Student of the Week (Nov. 6-12) To read the article on Cookie Quirk click here     A senior at Agnes Irwin School, Caroline “Cookie” Quirk is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and recently published an article in the Princeton Legal Journal titled “The High Stakes of Deepfakes: The Growing Necessity of Federal Legislation to Regulate this Rapidly Evolving Technology.” Quirk also serves on the school’s Discipline Committee, is a Student Tour Guide, and serves as a co-head of Mathletes as well as the Debate Club and the STEM Club. She is a writing center tutor, a member of Honor Council, and Digital Editor of the Wick, the school newspaper. She plays for Agnes Irwin’s squash team in the winter and rows crew in the spring.
