 A junior at The Haverford School, Quinn Luong is the co-founder of the Pan-Asian Alliance, and was recently elected as the co-chair of the Diversity Alliance on campus. Luong received a Certificate of Accomplishment from the Princeton Prize of Race Relations recognizing the important work the Pan-Asian Alliance has done to foster positive race relations and to make Haverford a diverse space that connects and educates students. He is also a recipient of the School’s Thomas Allerton Newhall Memorial Prize. Luong is a member of Haverford’s Model UN team, and won Best Delegate at the Johns Hopkins Model UN Conference. He is the news editor of the School’s newspaper The Index and received a Silver Key in Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for his journalism piece. Luong is a member of the school’s Glee Club and is a member of Haverford School’s cross country team and the track and field team. Outside of Haverford, Luong volunteers at Lankenau Medical Hospital in the radiology department, and he received the esteemed Lori Brodsky Volunteer Service Award for serving the most number of hours at Lankenau, totaling 153 hours. Luong also is part of the non-profit organization The Borgen Project to combat world poverty through lobbying local representatives to support U.S. legislation, and was recently selected to be part of U.S. Representative Mary Gay Scanlon’s (D-PA 5th District) Congressional Youth Cabinet, a nonpartisan initiative that allows members to provide Congresswoman Scanlon with their own ideas about solving pressing issues facing young Americans.
