Anna Wetzel, a junior at The Baldwin School, is the sole student representative for the Faculty Environmental Committee at Baldwin and earlier this fall wrote an op-ed for the Philadelphia Inquirer on environmental justice. This year she has focused on the development of the Black and Brown Student Mentorship Program in collaboration with the Student Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, and is in the process of chartering an affinity group for Latin/Hispanic middle schoolers and developing identity-centered curricula for the program. During the past three years, she has interned at a preschool for students with emotional and behavioral challenges living in underserved communities. When on-campus learning was no longer feasible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she offered online lessons and videos for students working from home. Wetzel also serves on the leadership committee for Building Bridges, Baldwin’s student-led diversity conference. This fall, she is co-producing a film analysis podcast; specifically, the podcast is exploring the role of women within the Horror genre.
