A senior, Mary Cipperman is one of this year’s EA Lilley Fellows, and through this prestigious fellowship spent her summer researching and examining voter access legislation in Pennsylvania and the United States. She is also part of the Philadelphia Germination Project, through which she entered and won the Pamela and Ajay Raju Foundation essay contest. She earned a scholarship and worked with the curatorial team at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to select and donate a piece of art - titled “Raising Robotic Natives,” now part of the museum’s permanent collection. She is the president of the Creative Writing Club and one of the editors of the school newspaper, The Scholium. Cipperman has won a National Medal, two gold keys and a silver key in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and won Best Advocate for the Mock Trial team and is an active member of EA’s debate team Junto, and Model UN. She runs cross country, winter track, played on the squash team, and her boat (crew team) won the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association’s City Championships her freshman year. She has also been involved with Student Council as a representative on the Disciplinary Board. On Oct. 23, she was recognized at EA’s Honors Chapel with six awards, including the Williams College Alumni Prize for highest scholarship in the rising VI Form and the Judith Diamondstone Prize for the best American History research paper.
