Agnes Irwin's Katie McGovern is Main Line Student of the Week - April 21, 2019

A senior, Katie McGovern was selected for the NFHCA High School Academic Squad. She took on an Independent Science Research project with AIS science chair last year that analyzed the optical properties of chalcogenide glass and how it is affected by heat treating. One of her goals for the future is to make prosthetics for people with mobility issues.
She is the only three-year-running winner of AIS’s poetry prize in history and is the peer-elected class representative to the AIS Arts Board, as well as co-leader for Impulse, the AIS arts magazine.
McGovern also is co-head of the Council for the Advancement of Girls, the student offshoot of AIS’s Center for the Advancement of Girls.

Villa Maria Academy's Anna Rago is Main Line Student of the Week - Oct. 7, 2018 To read the article on Anna Rago click here The Villa Maria Academy junior received Outstanding Achievement Awards in both science and math (algebra) and was recently nominated for the Liberty Museum and TD Bank’s Young Heroes Award. In college, she wants to study urban planning and nonprofit management with a focus on international urban planning and has taken an online class with a college in Singapore called Future Cities. Last summer, she traveled to Malawi, Africa (the third-poorest country in the world), for 18 days to work with Pamoza International, whose mission is to unite people in alleviating suffering and despair through Christian outreach and sustainable community development in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, agriculture and health. Rago has organized several fundraisers at Villa Maria for Pamoza International.

 Agnes Irwin's Caroline "Cookie" Quirk is Main Line Student of the Week (Nov. 6-12) To read the article on Cookie Quirk click here     A senior at Agnes Irwin School, Caroline “Cookie” Quirk is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and recently published an article in the Princeton Legal Journal titled “The High Stakes of Deepfakes: The Growing Necessity of Federal Legislation to Regulate this Rapidly Evolving Technology.” Quirk also serves on the school’s Discipline Committee, is a Student Tour Guide, and serves as a co-head of Mathletes as well as the Debate Club and the STEM Club. She is a writing center tutor, a member of Honor Council, and Digital Editor of the Wick, the school newspaper. She plays for Agnes Irwin’s squash team in the winter and rows crew in the spring.
