A senior at Episcopal Academy, Praneeth Alla is the co-founder of Peerlift, a nonprofit organization that helps low-income and first-generation students gain access to internships, scholarships, college fly-in programs and summer learning opportunities.
Alla is involved with several volunteer groups, including the NRI Youth Club, which organizes service projects in India. Alla has set up 33 digital classrooms in a village in India where his father grew up.
He is a youth leader of the Diwali Food Drive, which helped collect and distribute 175,000 pounds of food to the local community.
At EA, Alla is the president of the Launch X Entrepreneurship Club, an executive member of the Community Service Board and a member of Model UN and has won three awards with Future Business Leaders of America. Last spring, Alla earned a Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and in September, Alla was inducted into the Cum Laude Society, named a National Merit Semifinalist and awarded EA’s prestigious Harvard Book Award.
Alla also was named a Coca Cola Foundation Scholarship semifinalist, one of 1,896 students nationwide selected from a pool of more than 95,000 students who submitted applications. The scholarship recognizes students for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
Alla was recently selected as one of 50 students to be a part of the management and technology dual-degree program at the University of Pennsylvania, through which he will eventually be receiving both a Wharton degree and a computer science degree from Penn Engineering.
