Villa Maria Academy's Ava Marie Donatucci is Main Line Student of the Week - Sept. 16, 2018

The Merion Mercy Academy senior is vice president of MMA’s student council in her fourth year on the council. She is a member of the honors chorale, glee club, Sirens of Baggot Street (a capella group) and liturgical music group. She is a member of National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society and serves as an executive board member for Ro Kappa, Merion Mercy’s National Social Studies Honor Society. She is a member of the Spanish club and Mercy Works, a service club.
She also is a board member and the coordinator for student volunteers of a foundation called Michael’s Giving H.A.N.D (Handling Anxiety Navigating Depression). Her family created the Michael’s Giving H.A.N.D. foundation in honor of her brother, Michael, who took his life in July of 2016 after struggling with depression and anxiety for many years. The goal of the foundation is to spread awareness of mental health illnesses in teenagers and erase the stigma surrounding anxiety and depression.
“I am passionate about spreading awareness of mental health illnesses and keeping my brother’s memory alive,” Donatucci said.

Villa Maria Academy's Anna Rago is Main Line Student of the Week - Oct. 7, 2018 To read the article on Anna Rago click here The Villa Maria Academy junior received Outstanding Achievement Awards in both science and math (algebra) and was recently nominated for the Liberty Museum and TD Bank’s Young Heroes Award. In college, she wants to study urban planning and nonprofit management with a focus on international urban planning and has taken an online class with a college in Singapore called Future Cities. Last summer, she traveled to Malawi, Africa (the third-poorest country in the world), for 18 days to work with Pamoza International, whose mission is to unite people in alleviating suffering and despair through Christian outreach and sustainable community development in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, agriculture and health. Rago has organized several fundraisers at Villa Maria for Pamoza International.

 Agnes Irwin's Caroline "Cookie" Quirk is Main Line Student of the Week (Nov. 6-12) To read the article on Cookie Quirk click here     A senior at Agnes Irwin School, Caroline “Cookie” Quirk is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and recently published an article in the Princeton Legal Journal titled “The High Stakes of Deepfakes: The Growing Necessity of Federal Legislation to Regulate this Rapidly Evolving Technology.” Quirk also serves on the school’s Discipline Committee, is a Student Tour Guide, and serves as a co-head of Mathletes as well as the Debate Club and the STEM Club. She is a writing center tutor, a member of Honor Council, and Digital Editor of the Wick, the school newspaper. She plays for Agnes Irwin’s squash team in the winter and rows crew in the spring.
