The EA senior is one of two inaugural Lilley Fellows at Episcopal. Her project and research (bacteria-induced atherosclerosis) is focusing on furthering her understanding of the causes of atherosclerosis and the potential of whole foods to reduce the risk of heart disease.
Hao was inducted into EA's Cum Laude Society Sept. 20, was recently named a National Merit semifinalist and was Magna Cum Laude in the National Latin Exam. She is president of EA’s Bio Olympiad team and finished second at the 2018 regional Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition.
Hao is an accomplished pianist (has played for 11 years) who was invited to play at the Lincoln Center through the 2016 American Fine Arts Festival and is a multi-year Scholastic Art & Writing Award winner in the Philadelphia region. For the past two years she has received the EA Dora Khayatt Prize in Art (2-D design); “Whoops!” and “First Wisps of Gray” won Scholastic Gold Keys in 2017 and 2018, respectively. “Fighting Back Tears” won a Scholastic Silver Key in 2018.
She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (participated in the health care administration category) and the EA Community Service Board and a volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
